Before sending a notice

Information required

Include your full name, contact information, identification of the copyrighted work, and the URL of the material you want reviewed.

If the complaint covers multiple pages, list each URL separately so the scope of the request is clear.

Good-faith statement

State that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.

Also state that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act for the rights holder.

Signature

Include a physical or electronic signature of the rights holder or an authorized representative. A typed legal name may be acceptable where applicable law allows it.

Incomplete notices may require follow-up before a review can be completed.

Review process

After receiving a sufficiently complete notice, we may review, restrict, remove, or update the identified material as appropriate.

We may ask for clarification if ownership, authorization, or the location of the disputed material is unclear.

Counter-notice and disputes

Where applicable law provides a counter-notice process, affected parties may have the right to respond to a removal request. Legal disputes should be handled through the procedures required by the relevant jurisdiction.

The DMCA process should not be used to suppress lawful criticism, factual discussion, or material that does not infringe copyright.
